in the list. I'm sure this was an
oversight; I belong there.

was indeed an oversight,
which I regret. I had forgotten that
Diana Trilling's "Autumn Journal"
(Vol. XX, no. 1, 1953), as well as
an even earlier piece, "A Memo–
randum on the Hiss Case" (Vol.
XVII, no . 5, 1950), included a
number of passages critical of
McCarthy.
