POEMS
I
N LIQUID MOONLIGHT
For minutes long as damp fields
I watch a snail
swim slowly its clear glue
onto
off
over the length of a blade of grass
&
the blade, flattened
in its glistening bond
shudders
begins
now to
bow
upwards
pulling
the elastic clear muscle
to a single
web
of light
breaks free!
in space
&
its lucid
single
thought
whispers
a sphere
