CONTEMPORARY NONSENSE
BEIRUT-A Palestinian guerrilla spokesman today described
the presence of anned guards on flights of EI AI, the Israel airline, as
"a gross violation of international law."
Speaking on Damascus radio, he said the failure of
a
guerrilla
attempt to hijack an El Al airliner over the North Sea yesterday was
due to this "outrageous Israel violation."

HOUSTON (AP)-The University of Texas board of regents took
steps Friday to stop its spiraling enrollment on the Austin campus by
initiating a one-year pilot program.
However, Frank C. Erwin, regents board chairman, said he dis–
approves of any enrollment
policy
that limits admission to "A" students.
"I'll
never vote for a permanent plan to limit enrollment on the
basis of grades only," he said.
"If
we adopted such a plan then in
three or four years we would have nothing but 'A' students at Austin.
And we would be in the same position as Berkeley University of Cali–
fornia where disturbances have occurred."

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. (uPI)-A statement from a "woman's revolu–
tionary group" claiming to have bombed Harvard University's Center
for International Affairs has been rejected by police officers.
"This was a very sophisticated bomb," a Cambridge police officer
said Thursday, describing the device which destroyed a library in the
center. "We feel that women wouldn't be capable of making such
a
bomb."
