The Inspector, John M. McGee, also said that an official who
set up the paperwork procedures under which the fuel was stolen got
a promotion and then suddenly was transferred to the South Pole when
investigators uncovered the losses.
Mr. McGee, whose complaints of losses prompted an investigation
by the General Accounting Office, was transferred by the Navy to a
fuel supply office in Alexandria, Va., last November.
In
an interview
today, he said fellow employes were avoiding him and his boss had told

Beggars in East Pakistan have demanded that the mInlUlUm amount
of alms to be fixed at 15 paisa (3 cents). According to a report
received here today from across the border, the demand was contained
in a resolution passed at a convention of beggars held recently near
Dacca.
The Convention also demanded that the interval between the
knock at the gate and the offering of alms should not exceed 45
seconds.
It
also appointed a delegation to wait on the authorities and
submit their demands.

"Some people may actually want peace, but I bet 99 per cent of
these guys are just joking.
