FROM THE ABYSS–
A TRILOCY OF POETRY
BY WALTER CORlE
Vol. I, Testimonial of Oblivion; Vol. II, Death and Reawakening;
Vol. III, The Kindling of Hope
The poet seems to be buffeted and controlled by dark and
hostile forces that all at once attack him from within and without.
He seems to be oblivious of his .own real motives, of what he really
wants, of where he really wants to go.-All seems a swirl of end–
less grey in which the soul must lose her way; and in the midst of
this swamp of nothingness the poet at first can find' but one point
of orientation-himself. But life is intolerable to him as it thus
appears; isolated, all alone in a cruelly sardonic universe. Casting
about for something
to
which to relate himself, the poet gradually
regenerates himself through his rediscovery of human society and
of the objective physical world-he grows into a man of flesh and
blood instead of a quavering mere im4-ge of a man, as he grows
in responsibility toward' the flesh and blood world that he has
rediscovered.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY:-
· . . I found in your poems many ideas that I have held for
a number of years. I assume that you are a young man,
because of the temper and attitude that you take in your
poems . . . I believe that you have an unusual approach
coupled with a unique manner of speaking in your poems
that augurs a significant thing . . .
