importance at a time of crisis, but it can wear itself out under the
pressure of various "reasons of state." Polish pessimists are already
talking of a choice between a cold and a hot "Kadarization." But when
a new and valid work makes its appearance, it is evidence that man
has found his way back to spiritual freedom.
