But I have no desire to end with niggling, or to obscure by a false
emphasis the brilliant merits of criticism and discovery in the present
book. And if the reader is not wholly convinced by the author's portrait,
the author has anyway provided him with a rich set of materials out
of which
to
model his own-even though Berryman does appear to feel
that the author ought to take a strong line with the reader about the
right interpretation.
