Vol.14 No.5 1947 - page 452

TO OUR READERS
We are pleased to announce that beginning with the January 1948
issue PARTISAN REVIEW will be published as a monthly. The current
issue is the last in the bi-monthly series; the all-Proust issue scheduled
for November will not appear because of the reorganization made nec–
essary by the new plan of publication.
The publisher of the monthly PARTISAN REVIEW will be Mr. Allan
D. Dowling, who will also serve as a member of an advisory board now
being formed. The editorial policy and editorial staff of the magazine
will remain unchanged. The increased frequency of publication and a
larger operating budget will enable us, we hope, to draw upon the best
writing in this country and abroad, as well as to widen the scope and
distribution of the magazine.
In addition to fiction, poetry, political and literary criticism, the
monthly PR will contain regular departments on music, art, movies, and
the theater, as well as correspondence from cultural centers abroad.
To an even greater extent than in the past, an effort will be made to
give representation in the magazine to the literary and ideological ten–
dencies of postwar Europe.
We are especially pleased to announce that beginning with January
of next year, contributions will be paid for at the rate of 2,0 cents a
word for prose, and 50 cents a line for poetry.
The price of a single copy of the monthly PR will be 50 cents. A
one-year subs,cription will be $5.00,
a:
two-year subscription $8.00.
(Canadian and foreign subscriptions will be $6.00 for one year, $10.00
for two years.)
Unexpired subscriptions will be filled on a pro-rated basis: that is
to say, subscribers will receive as many issues of the new monthly as
they would have received of the bi-monthly.
