Important Dates & Details about the CGS Experience

Welcome BU Parents & Families!

Congratulations! It is almost time for your students to begin their Boston University experience. We hope that they are as excited to move to Boston as we are to welcome them.

We at the College of General Studies and Parent & Family Programs know that there are so many things for you and your Terriers to think about and do prior to the first day of class. We, along with the rest of the BU staff, want to make this transition as smooth as possible for your family, so we’ve compiled a list of important dates:

  • Wednesday, January 5 at 8 a.m. (EST) — Parent & Family Orientation Session One via Zoom
  • Thursday, January 6 at 5 p.m. (EST) — Parent & Family Orientation Session Two via Zoom
  • Friday, January 7 — Housing assignments distributed
  • Friday, January 14 — Wednesday, January 19 — Move-in for new & continuing students
  • Friday, January 14 — Friday, January 28 — Winter Weeks of Welcome
  • Monday, January 17 — Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Tuesday, January 18 — Wednesday, January 19 — Student Orientation (in-person)
  • Wednesday, January 19 from 4-5 p.m. (EST) — CGS Matriculation Ceremony (Details about attending the event will be sent to students in the January newsletter. The event will be livestreamed on the CGS Parents page.)
