The Human Rights Crisis in Central America, Migrant Disappearances and Transnational Responsibility

This panel brings together discussants with decades of cumulative expertise in human rights in the context of international migration and research on the phenomenon of migrant disappearances in Central America, Mexico and the United States. This conversation will trace the root causes of out-migration from the Northern Triangle, including massive human rights abuses by state and non-state actors; the responsibilities of states for investigations, prosecutions, recovery of human remains and reparations for disappeared migrants; and the need for a transnational mechanism to address the rights of migrants and their families.
