Machine Learning and Neural Networks for Lawyers

  • Starts: 3:45 pm on Wednesday, October 31, 2018
  • Ends: 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 31, 2018
Buzzwords like AI, machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning have come to dominate popular and policy lexicon. In this rapidly-evolving policy space, technical details matter. In this Cyber Alliance talk, MIT PhD candidate Jonathan Frankle will introduce all of these concepts for a general audience, starting with the definition of "machine learning" and ending with the precise technical mechanics of neural networks. These concepts lay the foundation for an informed discussion of the limitations of contemporary AI and appropriate policy responses. Although the jargon, marketing, and mystique may make these ideas seem intimidating, they're very accessible to a legal audience.

There will be time for casual conversation and light refreshments before and after the presentation. Please RSVP to tgabs@bu.edu.
