Telling the Whole Story: Gender Violence in Democratic Republic of Congo - Panel Discussion

  • Starts: 8:30 am on Friday, February 28, 2014
  • Ends: 1:00 pm on Friday, February 28, 2014
The Boston University Program on Crisis Response and Reporting in partnership with the Washington D.C.-based Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting present a two-day event exploring gender violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Both events are free and open to the BU community and general public. Students interested in learning more about the 2014 Pulitzer Fellowship opportunity are strongly encouraged to attend. DRC has been called the “rape capital of the world,” yet measuring the magnitude and impact of gender violence remains difficult. Human rights abuses in the Congo have been covered widely by the media, but are we hearing the full story? Boston University and the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting will convene a panel of journalists, public health experts, artists, and activists to discuss the challenges to accurate, nuanced reporting on Congo.
