2013 New England Association for Asian Studies Conference

  • All Day on Friday, October 11, 2013
Bridgewater State University is pleased to host the annual New England regional meeting of the Association for Asian Studies on October 11-12, 2013. Founded in 1840, Bridgewater was one of the oldest teacher colleges in the United States. Today Bridgewater State has evolved into a comprehensive university with an attractive suburban campus south of Boston serving more than 11,000 students. Our connection with Asia originated from the 1870s when Shuji Isawa was sent by the Meiji government in Japan to study teacher education at Bridgewater Normal School. Isawa subsequently became one of the leaders of teacher education in modern Japan. Our campus also hosts an active Asian Studies program and develops many study abroad and exchange programs with China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, India, Cambodia, and Thailand.
