Crafts for Kids: a Sustainable Craft Fair for Charity

  • Starts: 9:00 am on Wednesday, May 1, 2013
  • Ends: 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2013
Arts and crafts for sale will include sculptures, prints, paper flowers, recycled vases, jewelry created out of electronic materials, sculptures, notebooks, and thrift items such as donated books and jewelry. This event will also include temporary art installations, free craft-making programs and activities geared towards children that are also adult-friendly. To reinforce the event’s mission of encouraging a creative, DIY lifestyle, there will be a booth designated for guests to create crafts for free. This will include complimentary art supplies and demonstrations by volunteers. Visitors will be able to create terrariums in recycled objects, origami, and pom-pom monsters and insects. To also teach visitors about the importance of preserving our environment through sustainable practices, there will be an observation beehive at the event. Viewers will be able to look at pollen and live honeybees creating honey. Proceeds will be donated to Birthday Wishes, a registered non-profit organization that throws birthday parties - complete with cake, decorations and presents - for homeless children in Boston, Long Island and Rhode Island.
