Webinar on Smart Cities

Sponsored by Proceedings of the IEEE

Tuesday, July 17 11:00 am - 12 pm EST Free to join Register to attend, https://bit.ly/2zJ8iro

This webinar will complement the April 2018 special issue on Smart Cities, which brings together recent international research in one of the most challenging and multidisciplinary subjects in current times. The webinar will provide a short introduction to the concept of a "smart city" and outline the requirements in terms of key technologies and modeling tools. Attendees will learn about the smart grid, a key enabling technology for the implementation of the smart city concept, and will be introduced to some representative examples of smart-grid based smart city projects. Smart cities will then be discussed from the viewpoint of cyber-physical systems. Ongoing projects featuring a "smart parking" system, a "street bump" system, adaptive traffic light control, and more will provide perspective to the discussion.

Invited Panelists:

• Carlo Alberto Nucci (University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy)

• Christos G. Cassandras (Boston University, Boston, MA, US)

• Gilles Betis (Independent Consultant)
