Next Steps Checklist for New BU Families Starting in January 2025

Make sure your student completes the following tasks:

- Registers for Spring Semester Courses
  - November 17, for Class of 2028
- Sets up a meeting with Disability & Access Services if applicable
- Submits their Health and Immunization records to Student Health Services
  - Students will upload their documents via Patient Connect
  - All students must be compliant before the start of classes
  - Enrolls in or waives the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)
  - Students are automatically enrolled into the basic SHIP plan, but are eligible to waive this charge if they are on a comparable family insurance
  - Remind your student to fill out the FitRec Waiver form
    - This must be completed in order for your student to access the fitness center
  - Completes Part 1 of AlcoholEdu and Sexual Assault Prevention
    - Students will receive an email in early January about the training
    - The deadline to complete training is March 1
- Completes the New Student Housing Application
- Selects a Dining Plan

Creates a Delegated Access account for parents/guardians (optional)
Reviews tuition information, set up a payment plan (optional), submit payment
- Review the payment deadlines

Move-in Details

Print parking pass for move-in weekend
Select a Move-in date
- Dates: January 17–20
- Times:
  - Group A: 10am – 1pm
  - Group B: 1pm – 4pm
- Review check-in procedures with your student

Orientation & Welcome Events

Parents & Family members may attend virtual Winter Orientation sessions
- Registration opens on November 26, 2024
Students should check their email for details about Winter Student Orientation
- This is required for all students who did not attend an orientation session over the summer
Students attend Winter Orientation
- Student Programming: January 17–19, 2025
  - Programming will begin after move-in on January 17th
  - Programming will end around 2 pm on January 19th
Parents & Family members are invited to attend the Winter Welcome Breakfast on January 18, 9:30 am
International Student Program (students only) on January 20, 1:45 pm
Attend BU Men’s Hockey Game vs. UNH (optional) on January 19, 6 pm
CGS Student Matriculation Ceremony (students only) on January 20, 4 pm
Classes Begin: January 21
