The overarching theme in his scholarship is the study of historical cross-cultural encounters and intellectual exchange that have led to innovations in Persianate societies, particularly in South Asia, across an entire millennium. A prolific writer, Sharma has written several articles and books, including <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/journals\/iranian-studies\/article\/abs\/mughal-arcadia-persian-literature-in-an-indian-court-sunil-sharma-cambridge-ma-harvard-university-press-2017-isbn-9780674975859-hbk-266-pp\/0FE5893E034493F7A71966F0EFEB5C3E\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mughal Arcadia: Persian Poetry in an Indian Court<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which explores the aesthetic representations of idyllic spaces in cities and nature in the early modern poetic imaginary and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Amir-Khusraw-Makers-Muslim-World\/dp\/1851683623\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amir Khusraw: The Poet of Sultans and Sufis<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">synthesizes the sacred and profane.
