Pardee School of Global Studies and Interim Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>shared his insights with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\"><span> South China Morning Post<\/span><\/a>\u00a0about Chilean President Gabriel Boric&#8217;s visit to China. Heine anticipates that Boric will prioritize economic discussions during his meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping and is unlikely to broach contentious topics such as human rights.<\/p>\n<p>Heine emphasized Boric&#8217;s participation in the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, an initiative that plays a crucial role in fostering collaboration and infrastructure development. Heine noted,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We recognize the BRI&#8217;s fluctuations and realize that the past couple of years, coupled with the pandemic, have impacted the Chinese economy.
