Jorge Heine.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On August 11, 2023, Amb. Jorge Heine, <span>Research Professor at Boston University\u2019s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies and Interim Director of the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future<\/span><\/a><span>, published a column in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedialogue.org\/latin-america-advisor\/\"><em>Latin American Advisor<\/em><\/a> discussing the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the United States and Chile.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Heine largely argued the merits of the FTA, writing that the &#8220;U.S.-Chile FTA is Exhibit A of the fact that, contrary to the current conventional wisdom, FTAs between the United States and Latin American countries can be a win-win proposition.&#8221; Citing benefits like increasing bilateral trade and investment and increased financial opportunities, Heine attributed the success of the FTA to continued goodwill between both countries.<\/p>\n<p>You can read the full article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedialogue.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/LAA230811.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s7\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/jorge-heine\/\">Ambassador Jorge Heine<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0is a Research Professor at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University.
