Ambassador Paul Hare<\/span><\/a>, Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the\u00a0Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies<\/span><\/a>\u00a0at Boston University, published a letter to the editor in the May 11, 2023, edition of\u00a0The Economist<\/i><\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/i>His letter touches on\u00a0the T25 and how they are using diplomacy, trade and investment to play more diverse global roles. <\/span><\/p>\n

In the letter, Hare discusses how the T25 <\/span>are using diplomacy and trade to play diverse global roles, while remaining neutral in the Ukraine conflict by not imposing sanctions or supplying military equipment. However, most of these countries supported a UN resolution calling on Russia to withdraw from Ukraine, while none of these countries, including China and India, have recognized Russia’s annexation of Crimea.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is true that this group has not sanctioned Russia or supplied military equipment to Ukraine. They have no record of ever imposing sanctions except when mandated by the UN. However, 19 out of the t25 supported the UN General Assembly resolution of February 23rd, 2023 calling on Russia to withdraw from Ukraine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
