Adil Najam<\/a>, Dean Emeritus and Professor of International Relations and Earth and Environment at Boston University\u2019s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, was interviewed by the Australian Associated Press<\/em> (AAP) FactCheck<\/em> in which he clarifies claims surrounding the recently agreed upon “loss and damage” climate fund at COP27<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The article, titled “$2 trillion climate fund claim a red hot lie<\/a>,” explores a false claim that Australia has agreed to contribute $2 trillion per year to climate change<\/a>. The claim is in reference to the United Nations-backed “loss and damage” fund from COP27. Najam argued that the idea that the fund would reach $2 trillion per year, even across all contributing nations, was “practically an impossibility,” especially because the amount committed and pledged to the fund is still zero dollars.<\/p>\n
