In an interview with CGTN America<\/em>, Ambassador <\/span>Jorge Heine<\/a>, Research Professor at Boston University\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies<\/a>, discusses the results of the constitutional referendum in Chile.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his comments, Heine notes that the rejection of the proposed constitution is very counterintuitive considering that the public overwhelmingly voted in favor of drafting a new constitution two years ago. The rejection of the constitution is a major setback for President Gabriel Boric who supported the text strongly. Heine speculates that whenever another attempt is made to draft a new constitution, it should take less than a year with the help of more carefully selected committee members.<\/p>\n
