Vesko Gar\u010devi\u0107<\/a>, Professor of the Practice of International Relations at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, has been awarded the Pardee School\u2019s 2022 <\/span>Gerald and Deanne Gitner Family Prize for Faculty Excellence<\/a>. The award was presented during the School’s 2022 convocation ceremony, which took place on May 21, 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Gitner Faculty Prize, established in 2015, is open to all full-time faculty and is awarded for excellence in teaching and mentoring students and for advancing the School\u2019s mission. A committee composed of past winners assists the Pardee School Dean in selecting the winner from the nominations received.<\/p>\n Students who nominated Gar\u010devi\u0107 said he is “truly dedicated to the growth of his students outside the classroom;” he “genuinely cares about his students, whether they seek him out for advice or not;” and, he “brings compassion, warmth, and creativity to the classroom.” Gar\u010devi\u0107’s students also highlighted the \u201ccompassion and care\u201d that he brought to online \u201cZoom classes\u201d in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic and how he went “above and beyond” the call of duty to not only excel at the new teaching technologies but to make the experience comfortable and nurturing for his students.<\/p>\n The presentation of the 2022 Gitner Family Prize can be viewed below.<\/p>\n
