Min Ye<\/a>, Pardee School Associate Professor of International Relations, was quoted in\u00a0Politico<\/em>‘s China Watcher newsletter on China’s newly unveiled Global Security Initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n This edition of “China Watcher” explored a number of topics, including China\u2019s security pact with Solomon Islands, United States government-funded press in Asia, and much more. Ye specifically commented on a new Global Security Initiative to promote security for all in the world, which was announced on April 21, 2022, by Chinese President Xi Jinping.<\/span> The initiative makes no mention of the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine, a point Ye says is reflective of China’s security reformation in an every changing global order.<\/p>\n Her remarks:<\/p>\n Countries sympathetic to Ukraine will regard China’s new security initiative as preposterous, those who side with Russia already share similar positions as China, and many middle countries will find China’s security position unsatisfactory and untenable…However, Chinese strategic circles are engaged in debates and discussions on security rethinking and adaptation to the new environment.
