Pardee School of Global Studies alumna Elina Alem Kent (BA IR \u201919) has launched a video series called &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC4zAktRPmKi0yHeLyUkblaQ\">Diaries in Exile<\/a>.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Directly from the Polish\/Ukrainian border, &#8220;Diaries in Exile&#8221; chronicles the personal stories of the Ukrainian refugees and the immigrants who called Ukraine home. <\/span>As two individuals who have also been displaced by this war, Kent and fellow producer Romana Isabella speak to individuals not as foreigners trying to extract a quotable story, but as fellow displaced people who understand and empathize with their trauma.<\/p>\n<p>A trailer for the video series can be viewed below.<\/p>\n<div class=\"responsive-video responsive-youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"&quot;Diaries in Exile&quot; Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CzFjcgop5Lk?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><span>Elina-Alem Kent is a previously Ukrainian-based journalist producing the podcast<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><em><a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/category\/podcasts\/\">Media in Progress<\/a><\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span><span>for the<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Kyiv Independent<\/em>,<span> a program that documents the launch and growth of the<\/span><span> <\/span><span>English-language news site created by the former staff of the<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Kyiv Post<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span><span>who were fired en masse following a disagreement over editorial staff hiring policies.
