On March 2, 2022, David John Young (STH ’87, Pardee ’88) was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate<\/a> as Ambassador to the Republic of Malawi.<\/p>\n

Back on August 4, 2021, Young was nominated by President Biden as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Malawi. Young\u2019s nomination was one of many national security positions announced by the White House. The statement said the following of the Pardee School alumni:<\/p>\n

David Young, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister-Counselor, currently serves as Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires, a.i. at the U.S. Embassy in Lusaka, Zambia. Previously he served as Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires, a.i. at the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa and Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria. Prior to that, he was Deputy Director, Office of the Special Envoy for Sudan & South Sudan, and he also served as Executive Assistant to the Under Secretary for Democracy and Global Affairs at the State Department. Among his other assignments, Young was a Pearson Fellow; a Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala; and Director, Office of International Religious Freedom in the Bureau of Democracy and Human Rights at the State Department.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
