Ambassador\u00a0<\/span>Jorge Heine<\/a>,\u00a0Research Professor at the\u00a0<\/span>Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies<\/span> at Boston University, published an article in the latest issue of “TI Observer,” a publication of the Taihe Institute, a Beijing think tank, which draws on his recently published book El No Alineamiento Activo y Am\u00e9rica Latina: una doctrina para el nuevo siglo<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(Active Non-Alignment and Latin America: A Doctrine for the New Century).<\/span><\/p>\n

In his article, titled “Latin America and the Active Non-Alignment Option,” Heine discusses the need for Latin America to shift with the changing tides of a “Post Western World” and sets forth a strategy for the region expounded in his latest book: the Active Non-Alignment option. As he states, “the Active Non-Alignment option draws on the honorable tradition of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), of autonomy and independence from the big powers, based on the principles of political self-determination, mutual respect of sovereignty, non-aggression, non-interference in internal affairs, and equality.”<\/p>\n
