Adil Najam<\/a>, Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was interviewed by the Vienna Institute for International Dialogue and Cooperation (VIDC) following a VIDC hosted panel he participated in – “Climate crisis boosts displacement<\/a>” – on climate change and climate-driven migration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In his remarks, Najam argues that climate change is no longer a future issue and its effects – floods, wildfires, heatwaves, droughts, etc. – are a reality for billions around the world. As a result, climate impacted populations will be forced to leave their homes not just because of a disaster but because climate change has impacted people’s livelihood. Najam argues that focusing on sustainable development and investing in green economic alternatives will help mitigate climate migration and address the climate crisis.<\/p>\n
