Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, hosted a seminar on \u201cChinese and French Social Capital Networks in North Africa.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The event was organized in cooperation with the Pardee School&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/africa\/\">African Studies Center<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cura\/\">Institute on Culture, Religion, and World Affairs<\/a> (CURA, as part of the ongoing &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/2021\/11\/12\/assessing-chinas-belt-and-road-initiative-a-pardee-school-event-series\/\">Assessing China\u2019s Belt and Road Initiative<\/a>&#8221; series. This session featured Lina Benabdallah, Assistant Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Wake Forest University, Pardee School professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/michael-woldemariam\/\">Michael Woldemarium<\/a>, Associate Professor of International Relations, and was moderated by Grant Rhode, an affiliate of the Center for the Study of Asia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Benabdallah focussed her remarks on people-to-people cooperation, an aspect of the Belt and Road Initiative that has received less attention than others. Operationally, the center provides a focal point and institutional support for the study of Europe across Boston University through coordination of teaching missions, support of research, community-building among faculty and students, and outreach beyond the University.
