Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, moderated a panel during the \u201cA More Perfect Economic Union \u2013 A Transatlantic Tribute to Henrik Enderlein,\u201d an event hosted by the Harvard Kennedy School\u2019s Project on Europe and the Transatlantic Relationship as well as the French and German Ambassadors to the United States<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Schmidt&#8217;s panel, titled &#8220;How to Overcome Regional Inequalities,&#8221; featured Anke Hassel, Professor of Public Policy, Hertie School, and Pascal Lamy, Chair of the Paris Peace Forum, Coordinator of the Jacques Delors Think Tanks Network (Paris, Berlin, Bruxelles). The panel honored the memory of Henrik Enderlein, with Philippe Etienne, Ambassador of France to the U.S., and Emily Haber, Ambassador of Germany to the U.S., providing eulogies talking in particular about Enderlein\u2019s major contribution to policy-making in both countries.<\/p>\n<p>The event that followed discussed Enderlein&#8217;s contributions to academic and policy debates related to European economic and monetary policy and talked about how he contributed to the discussion of the European Union\u2019s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Further details on the event can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.belfercenter.org\/event\/more-perfect-economic-union-transatlantic-tribute-henrik-enderlein\">online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/vivien-a-schmidt\/\">Vivien Schmidt<\/a><span>\u00a0is Professor of International Relations and Jean Monnet Professor of European Integration at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies and was the first Director of BU\u2019s Center for the Study of Europe, housed at the Pardee School.\u00a0<\/span><span>Schmidt\u2019s research focuses on European political economy, institutions, democracy, and political theory\u2014in particular on the importance of ideas and discourse in political analysis.
