Ambassador\u00a0<\/span>Jorge Heine<\/a>,\u00a0Research Professor at the\u00a0<\/span>Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies<\/span> at Boston University, was interviewed as part of France24’s “El Debate”<\/em><\/a> on AUKUS and the changing strategic situation in the Pacific.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the segment, Heine is joined by Tatiana G\u00e9lvez Rubio, president of the Latin American Association for Asian and African Studies (ALADAA) Colombia Chapter and university professor, as well as Florent Sardou, international analyst, and professor of Economic and Social Sciences at the Liceo Franc\u00e9s de Santiago. These experts discussed the AUKUS alliance – a military agreement between the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia – and how it will counter China’s advances in the Indo-Pacific. In addition, Heine and his fellow discussants touch on a recent diplomatic incident that has damaged relations between France and the U.S. and explore how the U.S.’s prominent return to the world stage under President Joe Biden’s leadership has been received by international allies.<\/p>\n
