Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was quoted in a\u00a0<em>AsiaLink\u00a0<\/em>article exploring the role India could play in the future of Chilean foreign policy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The article, titled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/asialink.americaeconomia.com\/economia-y-negocios-macroeconomia-sociedad\/sera-india-una-nueva-china-para-chile\">\u00bfSer\u00e1 India una nueva China para Chile?<\/a>&#8221; (Will India be a new China for Chile?), discusses Chile and India&#8217;s current trade agreements, the impact COVID-19 had on trade, and the commercial future between the two nations. In his comments, Heine applauds Chile for making India a priority. He hopes that this change in mentality will translate to more state and tourist visits, more trade, and an expansion of existing trade agreements.<\/p>\n<p>An excerpt:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span>For [Heine] there are enormous possibilities in bilateral trade that are under-exploited, since from 2003 to 2007 exports went from US $ 200 to US $ 2 billion and since then \u201c[that] trade has decreased in these years, obviously it means that there is something that we are not doing well, because India has grown enormously &#8220;, he emphasizes, adding that due to competition with other nations and the hierarchical nature of Indian society&#8221; unless the highest level of government is given priority and take place State visits, ministers visits, agreements are signed [\u2026] protectionism and the numerous entry barriers that exist in India are very difficult to penetrate \u201d, he warns.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The full article can be read on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/asialink.americaeconomia.com\/economia-y-negocios-macroeconomia-sociedad\/sera-india-una-nueva-china-para-chile\"><em>AsiaLink<\/em><\/a>&#8216;s website.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/jorge-heine\/\">Ambassador Jorge Heine<\/a><span>\u00a0is a Research Professor at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University.
