Pardee School of Global Studies<\/a>\u00a0at Boston University honored<\/span><span>\u00a0the achievements of some of this year\u2019s brightest and most talented students with the presentation of multiple\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/academics\/academic-prizes\/\">academic awards<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Each year, the Pardee School celebrates its very best in academics, in teaching, and in citizenship with a range of School-wide awards meant to honor the exceptional achievements of the Pardee School community. During the 2021 Pardee School convocation, eight awards were presented.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"responsive-video responsive-youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Pardee School of Global Studies Convocation 2021 - Awards\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KAghjDgnA9o?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Carole A. Chandler Student Citizenship Award<\/strong> is the Pardee School\u2019s highest student award and is given each year to recognize the spirit of citizenship and a demonstration of exemplary commitment to the values and mission of the Pardee School of Global Studies. The 2021 Chandler Citizenship Award was awarded to\u00a0<b>Ahmad Azari <\/b>(MAIA, Pardee &#8217;21).<\/p>\n<p>The<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Ambassador Hermann Eilts Thesis Awards<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>are given to the best undergraduate and graduate theses written by students at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies. The 2021 Eilts Award for the Best Graduate Thesis has been awarded to<span>\u00a0<strong>Alexander Beatty<\/strong> (MAIA, Pardee &#8217;21) for his thesis &#8220;Building Jet Bridges: Aviation Diplomacy as a Framework to Examine the Strategic Relationship Between Governments and Airlines,&#8221; which was supervised by Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/erik-goldstein\/\">Erik Goldstein<\/a>.\u00a0 <\/span>The 2021 Eilts Award for the Best Undergraduate Honors Thesis was awarded to<span>\u00a0<strong>Samantha De Jesus\u00a0<\/strong>(BA, Pardee &#8217;21) for her thesis &#8220;The Whole Enchilada: Assessing NAFTA as the Origin of Migrant Securitization on the US-Mexico Border,&#8221; which was supervised by Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/noora-lori\/\">Noora Lori<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Pardee School Academic Excellence Awards\u00a0<\/strong>are given to graduate and undergraduate students who have demonstrated the highest levels of academic excellence in courses taken at the Pardee School. On the graduate level, the Academic Excellence Award was awarded to <strong>Amy Hendricks <\/strong>(LAS MA, Pardee &#8217;21). On the undergraduate level, the Academic Excellence award had three recipients: <strong>Samantha Dorning<\/strong> (BA, Pardee &#8217;21), <strong>Nathanial Graham<\/strong> (BA, Pardee &#8217;21), and <strong>Emily Sorkin<\/strong> (BA, Pardee &#8217;21).<\/p>\n<p>In announcing the awards, Dean\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/adil-najam\/\">Adil Najam<\/a> wrote, &#8220;this year of COVID has disrupted many facets of our lives; however, the Pardee School is excited to continue its tradition of honoring the achievement of our students. Congratulations to all our winners. You embody the excellence and passion that the Pardee School seeks to impart in every member of our community.
