On February 26, 2021, <\/span>The Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future<\/a>, an affiliated center of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, hosted a launch event for its new research program: the Rising Powers Initiative (RPI).<\/span><\/p>\n The event, titled \u201cThe Rise of China: Theory, Practice & Implications for the Biden Administration<\/a>,\u201d featured Professor <\/span>Aaron Friedberg<\/a> of Princeton University, Professor <\/span>Stacie Goddard<\/a> Wellesley College,\u00a0<\/span>Manjari Chatterjee Miller<\/a>, RPI Director and Associate Professor of International Relations at the Pardee School<\/span>, and\u00a0<\/span>Joshua Shifrinson<\/a>, Assistant Professor of International Relations at the Pardee School. Questions were also posted by the RPI core faculty Ambassador Jorge Heine<\/a>, Research Professor at the Pardee School, Kevin Gallagher<\/a>, Professor of Global Development Policy and Director of the Global Development Policy Center (GDP Center) at the Pardee School, and Mahesh Karra<\/a>, Assistant Professor of Global Development Policy at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies.<\/span><\/p>\n Panelists discussed the main policy issues key to the United States-China relationship, the history of that relationship and shifts that occurred under the Trump administration, whether the U.S. is in decline as a global power, and the foreign policy challenges facing the Biden administration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n A recording of the event can be viewed below.<\/p>\n
