Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, presented her forthcoming book <a href=\"https:\/\/global.oup.com\/academic\/product\/why-nations-rise-9780190639938?lang=en&amp;cc=ca#:~:text=In%20Why%20Nations%20Rise%2C%20Manjari,the%20great%20power%20du%20jour.\"><em>Why Nations Rise: Narratives and the Path to Great Power<\/em><\/a> (Oxford University Press, 2021) &#8211; during an event hosted by the University of Pennsylvania&#8217;s Center for the Advance Study of India (CASI). The event was presented <\/span>in partnership with South Asia Center &amp; Perry World House.<\/p>\n<p>During her remarks, Miller talked about the need to understand rising powers, particularly China and India, in the context of historical rising powers which display certain patterns of behavior.<\/p>\n<p><em>Why Nations Rise<\/em>, available February 12, 2021, argues that elites in some states actively reframe their image when their economic and military power increases.
