Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, gave a lecture for the European Institute of the London School of Economics (LSE) entitled: \u201cEU Legitimacy and Member-State Politics: Lessons from the Eurozone and Coronavirus.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Schmidt&#8217;s lecture was part of a year long seminar series, which brought together policy practitioners and commentators talk about their experience working in and with the European Union (EU) institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Details of the seminar series can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lse.ac.uk\/european-institute\/the-european-union-in-practice\">LSE&#8217;s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/vivien-a-schmidt\/\">Vivien Schmidt<\/a><span>\u00a0is Professor of International Relations and Jean Monnet Professor of European Integration at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies and was the first Director of BU\u2019s Center for the Study of Europe, housed at the Pardee School.\u00a0<\/span><span>Schmidt\u2019s research focuses on European political economy, institutions, democracy, and political theory\u2014in particular on the importance of ideas and discourse in political analysis.
