Ambassador\u00a0<\/span>Paul Hare<\/a>, Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the\u00a0<\/span>Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies<\/span>\u00a0at Boston University, was quoted in a\u00a0Reuters\u00a0<\/em>article discussing economic reform and foreign investment in Cuba.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The article, titled “Cuba needs deeper economic reform, creditors say,<\/a>” discussed Cuba’s dire economic situation – exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic – and fielded responses from experts on the country’s handling of the situation. Hare said that the Cuban government should “deregulate small business and foreign investment to foster growth and absorb labor.”<\/p>\n

Ambassador Paul Hare<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>was a British diplomat for 30 years and the British ambassador to Cuba from 2001-04. He now teaches classes at Boston University on Diplomatic Practice, Arms Control, Intercultural Communication, and on Cuba in Transition.
