The Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University hosted a panel of BU School of Law administrators, BU Law students, and Pardee School alumni for a September 18, 2020 talk as part of the school\u2019s Pardee Works series. The panel featured Joseph Dorsey, 3rd year BU Law student,\u00a0 Glenn Korman (Pardee ’20, NYU Law ’23), Gerry Muir, Associate Dean of Student Affairs at BU Law, Chloe Matthews, Associate Director of Admissions at BU Law, and Rita Ralston, Pre-Law Academic Advisor in the Pre-Professional Advising Office at BU Law.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Kicking off the event, Muri and Matthews offered student attendees guidance on the law school application process, what admissions officers are looking for in a strong applicant, the academic rigor involved in the obtaining a law degree, as well as the importance of “knowing your why” when applying to law schools. They went on to informed students of the multiple paths available to them at the BU School of Law, no matter their specialization, and the resources the school offers. Muri also outlined the extensive program offerings at BU and how the university allows students to shape how they learn.<\/p>\n Pardee School students inquired about the importance of class rank in influencing career opportunities, recruitment and job posting services available through the Pardee School, and how they can build their legal resume. Dorsey and Korman responded stating that class rank hardly came up in their experiences. They also discussed why they decided to go to law school, their journeys in pursuing their legal education, how their time at the the Pardee School prepared them for law school, and offered advise on standardized testing (GRE and LSAT). When asked what advice they’d offer prospective law school students, Dorset and Korman recommended getting some life under your belt before applying and, when you do apply, looking for a law school community to join whether on campus or online.<\/p>\n The Pardee Works series\u00a0focuses on bringing\u00a0professionals currently working in the diverse field of global studies to present for and network with Pardee School students.
