Manjari Chatterjee Miller<\/a>, Associate Professor of International Relations at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, published an article in Hindustan Times<\/em><\/a> discussing India’s rise in global power and its ability to serves as a counterweight to China. This is the third of Miller\u2019s monthly columns in Hindustan Times.<\/em><\/p>\n In the article, titled, “India will have to make hard choices<\/a>,” Miller discusses the idea of global counterbalancing, how superpowers like the United States are looking to align with like-minded allies to counter the rise of China, and the role India might play in this situation.<\/p>\n While the U.S. sees India as a country akin to itself, and thus an ally, Miller points out that Indian leaders have expressed reluctance to become a U.S. geopolitical tool against China. They see a need for equilibrium and understanding rather than counterbalancing.
