Adil Najam<\/a>, Dean of the\u00a0<\/span>Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies<\/a>\u00a0at Boston University, was quoted in an\u00a0Express Tribune<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>article on a recent China-India border confrontation in Kashmir and how this\u00a0has escalated regional tensions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The article discusses India’s annexation of Kashmir, how this has forced China to become more involved in the region, and Pakistan’s policy towards the confrontation. Pakistan – who, along with India, have staked claim to the entire Kashmir region – has said they view the violent incident at the border as a bilateral issue between China and India, hoping to avoid involvement and de-escalate the situation. Najam argues that this is the best response as Pakistan should not be speaking on behalf of Kashmir.<\/p>\n An excerpt:<\/p>\n Speaking at a virtual conference by the Corporate Pakistan Group, Dr. Adil Najam argued that ‘the best thing Pakistan can do is to not make this about Pakistan.
