The\u00a0<\/span>Center for the Study of Asia (BUCSA),<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>an affiliated regional center of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, hosted their annual fall reception on September 18, 2019 at 121 Bay State Road.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

BUCSA Director and Pardee School Professor of International Relations\u00a0<\/span>Thomas Berger<\/a>\u00a0welcomed those in attendance for an evening of conversation, food, and music. The new theme BUCSA will be exploring throughout the academic year \u2014 \u201cAsian Citizenships\u201d \u2014 was also introduced at the reception.<\/p>\n

Several Asia-related Boston University student organizations also presented at the reception, highlighting upcoming events for the fall semester.<\/p>\n

Boston University\u2019s Center for the Study of Asia<\/a>, established in 2008, promotes comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and cross-national understanding of Asia through coordination of teaching missions, research support, community-building among faculty and students, and broad outreach beyond the university. It strives to be an intellectual hub for new ideas and\u00a0cutting edge research in the humanities and social sciences.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Center also facilitates communication and cooperation among the different Asian Studies sub-fields; provides an administrative structure for raising and managing grants that support the Center\u2019s mandate; maintains the Asian Studies website; provides collaborative affiliation opportunities for Visiting Researchers; develops and manages conferences and cultural events; and works to expand access to Asia-related resources across the university.\u00a0The Center is part of a broad and diverse Asian Studies community across New England with strong ties to other universities, museums, nonprofit organizations and private entities, as well as Asian government agencies.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
