Pardee School of Global Studies celebrated\u00a0its convocation with a ceremony that brought together students, faculty and family for a day that commemorated the achievements of the Class of 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The convocation was held Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Boston University\u2019s Walter Brown Arena. A beautiful day greeted the approximately 2,000 guests and 30 faculty members\u00a0who celebrated the\u00a0new Pardee School alumni.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The 233 undergraduates and 58 graduate students will join the more than 9,000 alumni from programs currently under the purview of the Pardee School.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Convocation ceremony included remarks from Najam,\u00a0as well as the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/2019\/05\/18\/pardee-school-2019-student-awards-announced\/\"><span>presentation of the following awards<\/span><\/a><span>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>The Carole A. Chandler Citizenship Award, to\u00a0<strong>Kristin Bruno<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Andrew Benton Chiao<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>The CAS (College of Arts and Sciences) Prize for Undergraduate Academic Excellence, to\u00a0<strong>Masha C. Vernik<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>The Pardee School Graduate Academic Excellence Award, to\u00a0<strong>Leanne Renee Violette<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>The Pardee School Undergraduate Academic Excellence Award, to\u00a0<strong>Christopher William Brown<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Katie Jane Diclemente<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Ta-Wei Huang<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>The Amb. Hermann Frederick Eilts Graduate Thesis Award, to\u00a0<\/span><strong>Mohammad Aumar Abaas Chaudhry<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span>The Amb. Hermann Frederick Eilts Undergraduate Thesis Award, to\u00a0<strong>Tal Salomon Dickstein<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/2019\/05\/18\/amb-robert-loftis-awarded-gitner-family-prize\/\"><span>The Gerald and Deanne Gitner Family Prize for Faculty Excellence, to\u00a0<strong>Amb. Robert Loftis<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>The Convocation also featured the annual presentation of the Gerald and Deanne Gitner Family Prize for Faculty Excellence, which went to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/robert-g-loftis\/\">Amb.
