Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University,\u00a0<\/span>participated at a recent workshop on Religion, Violence and the State in Iraq hosted at the Crown Center for Middle East Studies and the Project on Middle East Political Science at Brandeis University.<\/p>\n<p>Mako&#8217;s paper was entitled &#8220;Statebuilding Minus Peacebuilding: Evaluating De-Baathification And Its Outcomes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/shamiran-mako\/\">Shamiran Mako\u2019s<\/a><span>\u00a0research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of international relations and comparative politics with a focus on authoritarianism, civil wars, democratization, institutional capacity building, governing in divided societies, and American foreign policy with a regional interest on the Middle East and North Africa.
