aria-hidden=\"true\"><span>18<\/span><\/a><\/li> <\/ul><\/div><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"\/pardeeschool\/files\/2019\/04\/Pardee-2019-Giving-Day-Fund-Page-Graphic-17.png\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/givingday.bu.edu\/pages\/frederick-s-pardee-school-of-global-studies\">Boston University\u2019s annual Giving Day<\/a><span>, held this year on April 3, 2019, was an opportunity for\u00a0alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and friends worldwide to show their <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%23PardeePride&amp;src=typd\">#PardeePride<\/a> and spend 24 extraordinary hours giving back.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/campaign\/support-your-school\/pardee\/\">Gifts\u00a0to the Pardee School of Global Studies on Giving Day make a huge difference<\/a>. From financial aid to cutting-edge research, student life to social outreach, donations help the school\u2014and our greater community\u2014thrive.<\/span><span>\u00a0For 24 hours on BU Giving Day, every gift had an even bigger impact.\u00a0<\/span>Thanks to Pardee School\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/about\/deans-advisory-board\/\">Dean&#8217;s Advisory Board<\/a> members Andrew McCarthy (CGS&#8217;04, Pardee &#8217;06), Bonnie Pierce (CAS&#8217;92, Pardee &#8217;94), and Paul Nathanson (Pardee &#8217;85), bonus funds were up for grabs.<\/p>\n<p>In total, the Pardee School received more than 250 gifts and raised more than $50,000 including bonus funds on Giving Day 2019.<\/p>\n<p>On Giving Day, the Pardee School earned $25,000 in bonus funds thanks to contributions from students, faculty, alumni, staff and friends of the school. With 150 global photos received on social media with the hashtag #PardeePride $7,500 in bonus funds was added to the Keylor Student Travel Fund. The first $10,000 in gifts made was matched dollar-for-dollar and $2,500 in bonus funds will go to student activities since more than 150 total gifts were made. $2,500 will go the Pardee School affiliated Center or Institute with the most total donations, and $2,500 will go to the Center or Institute with the highest number of donors.<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI give to the BU Pardee School because I believe now, more than ever,\u00a0we need a truly 21<\/span><sup>st<\/sup><span>\u00a0century school of global affairs at BU that is dedicated to advancing human progress and guiding the next generation of global leaders,\u201d said Pardee School Dean\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/adil-najam\/\">Adil Najam<\/a>. \u201cOur faculty are\u00a0committed to the education of problem-solvers, change-agents, and the leaders of tomorrow. We are a school that will work relentlessly to become a world leader in international affairs and that proudly proclaims that it is global.\u00a0Now, more than ever, this is an idea worth believing in. I hope you will give to the BU Pardee School for the same reason.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Pardee School\u00a0also celebrated Giving Day by hosting the<\/span><span>\u00a0Whoo(pie) Wagon food truck\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/pardeepride\/calendar\/?eid=226682\">in front of 152 Bay State Road.<\/a>\u00a0Anyone\u00a0making\u00a0an in-person donation\u00a0received a delicious whoopie pie as a thank you for supporting the Pardee School community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Pardee School is an amazing place. I am impressed every day by our faculty and our students. The Pardee School community is driven by the big questions of how the world works and how it can work better for people around the globe. We\u2019re not driven by academic fads or methodological dispute, but by our mission to \u201cadvance human progress,&#8221;\u00a0<span>said\u00a0<\/span><span>Associate Dean for Academic Affairs\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/william-w-grimes\/\">William Grimes<\/a><span>.<\/span><span>\u00a0&#8220;<\/span>Our students bring passion and an openness to trying new things to the classroom, which makes teaching here not only a pleasure but also a constant learning experience. I give to the Pardee School because I see that it makes an impact in the student experience. In the end, the most important thing we do is send dedicated, well-trained young people into the world.
