<\/a><\/p>\nAdil Najam<\/a>, Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was interviewed for a recent article on the importance of galvanizing support for climate action within major emitter countries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Najam was interviewed for an August 26, 2018 article in\u00a0The News on Sunday<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>entitled “<\/span>The Heat Is On.<\/a>”<\/p>\n From the text of the article:<\/p>\n Although the research is authoritative in nature, Adil Najam, the inaugural dean of Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, Boston University, clarified that the Hothouse Earth hypothesis posts a scenario rather than a prediction. He said, \u201cThough the research paints a scary scenario, its key purpose is to galvanize climate action within major emitter countries by painting a picture of what the worst case scenarios might look like.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Dr Adil Najam, on the other hand, said that in the light of this research, Pakistan should stay focused on the much more immediate climate crises that will pave way to a possible hothouse. He said, \u201cPakistan\u2019s climate challenges are immediate and related to adaptation. Heatwaves, floods, glacial melt, droughts and sea-level rise are now in Pakistan\u2019s near-term horizon and our focus must remain on this.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
