Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University,\u00a0was recently interviewed on the potential\u00a0meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that United States President Donald Trump wants to hold in Washington D.C.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Amb. Loftis was interviewed for a July 20, 2018 article in\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.circa.com\">Circa<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>entitled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.circa.com\/story\/2018\/07\/20\/world\/former-diplomat-proposed-trump-putin-summit-in-dc-unimaginable-indefensible\">Former Diplomat: Proposed Trump-Putin Summit in DC &#8216;Unimaginable,&#8217; &#8216;Indefensible.<\/a>&#8216;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>From the text of the article:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span>\u201cTo be caught by surprise like that, at a minimum it looks bad\u2026I\u2019ve never seen an administration of either stripe do something like this,\u201d said Robert Loftis, a former ambassador who has worked under presidents from both parties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt would show he certainly has the favor of President Trump,\u201d said Loftis, now director of graduate studies at Boston University\u2019s Pardee School of Global Studies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI would suggest they actually have some idea of what concrete measures they want to come out of this,\u201d Loftis said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cUsually, it\u2019s when you\u2019ve got something you want to finalize or advance that you can\u2019t do at a lower level, closing a deal so to speak,\u201d Loftis said.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Robert G.
