<\/a><\/p>\nJoseph Wippl,<\/a>\u00a0Professor of the Practice of International Relations at the\u00a0<\/span>Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was recently interviewed for an article\u00a0on the attempted assassination\u00a0of\u00a0former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Wippl was interviewed for a March 12, 2o18 article in\u00a0The Daily Beast<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>entitled “Ex-Spies on Sergei Skripal Assassination Attempt: \u2018There Is Always a Danger.<\/a>\u2019”<\/p>\n From the text of the article:<\/p>\n The rules of the game seem to have changed, said Joseph Wippl, a retired CIA operations officer who spent 30 years overseas as a member of the Agency\u2019s clandestine service.<\/p>\n \u201cThe betrayal in the Skripal case may be a different kind of betrayal than during the Cold War,\u201d Wippl said. \u201cI think a lot of these people can be engaged in all kinds of things other than just being members of the Russian government, so it\u2019s probably a little bit more \u2018Russian Mafia \u00e0 la Russia\u2019 than necessarily just a critic of Putin and so on. But I can\u2019t imagine that this assassination attempt didn\u2019t take place without authority at the highest levels, with at least Putin winking.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
