Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University,\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/daivi-rodima-taylor\/\">Daivi Rodima-Taylor<\/a>, Senior Researcher at the African Studies Center at Boston University, contributed a chapter to the recently published\u00a0<\/span><em><span id=\"productTitle\" class=\"a-size-extra-large\">Bitcoin and Beyond: Cryptocurrencies, Blockchains, and Global Governance<\/span><\/em><span id=\"productTitle\" class=\"a-size-extra-large\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0volume\u00a0<span>brings scholars of anthropology, economics, science and technology studies, and sociology together with GPE scholars in assessing the actual implications posed by Bitcoin and blockchains for contemporary global governance. Its interdisciplinary contributions provide academics, policymakers, industry practitioners and the general public with more nuanced understandings of technological change in the changing character of governance within and across the borders of nation-states.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The chapter by Grimes and Rodima-Taylor is entitled &#8220;<span>Cryptocurrencies and Digital Payment Rails in Networked Global Governance: Perspectives on Inclusion and Innovation,&#8221; focuses on\u00a0potential effects on financial inclusion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/associate%20dean\/\">Grimes<\/a><span>, who has taught at Boston University since 1996, is a leading scholar of East Asian financial regionalism. His 2008 book\u00a0<\/span><em>Currency and Contest in East Asia: The Great Power Politics of Financial Regionalism<\/em><span>\u00a0won the 2010 Masayoshi Ohira Memorial Prize and received Honorable Mention for the 2009 Asia Society Bernard Schwartz Book Award.
