Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University,\u00a0gave a talk as part of the\u00a0Pardee School Research Seminar Series on November 1, 2017.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The presentation, entitled\u00a0<span>&#8220;Development Banks and Sustainable Development: Lessons from Latin America,&#8221; explored to what extent development banks help trigger a Latin American Country transform toward lower carbon and more socially inclusive development. Gallagher&#8217;s research explores the level and determinants of current development finance and analyzes the extent to which all projects are socially inclusive and environmentally\u00a0sensitive.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Gallagher also discussed<span>\u00a0the Global Development Policy (GDP) Center,\u00a0a Boston University-wide research center housed at Pardee School for Global Studies, that focuses on policy-orientated research\u00a0in the wide-ranging field of global development policy.\u00a0According to Gallagher, the GDP Center\u2019s mission\u00a0ties directly into the Pardee School\u2019s mission of advancing human progress by striving for intellectual leadership and global engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/kevin-p-gallagher\/\">Gallagher<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span><span>served on the U.S. Department of State\u2019s Investment Subcommittee of the Advisory Committee on International Economic Policy and the International Investment Division of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.\u00a0 He has served as a visiting or adjunct professor at the Paul Nitze School for Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University; El Colegio de Mexico in Mexico; Tsinghua University in China; and the Center for State and Society in Argentina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Pardee School Research Seminar Series is a forum for faculty and students to discuss and receive feedback on ongoing research. The series is a mix of presentations, works-in-progress sessions, and research workshops.\u00a0Faculty and students based at BU and elsewhere are invited to present and attend the Research Seminar Series.
