The\u00a0<\/span>Beyond the Headlines @BUPardeeSchool<\/a>, or BtH, series at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, returned on\u00a0October 24, 2017\u00a0with a panel discussion on the current situation in Puerto Rico following the destruction caused by Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria last month. <\/span><\/p>\n

The event was co-sponsored by the Center for Latin American Studies<\/a>, an affiliated center of the Pardee School.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The panel included\u00a0Katriel Schwartz, a Puerto Rican economist and BU alumna, and Jose Roberto Martinez, former Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration in Washington, DC. <\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0discussion was moderated by Kevin Gallagher<\/a>, Professor of Global Development Policy at the Pardee School and Director of the\u00a0Global Development Policy Center.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond the Headlines<\/a>\u00a0is a regular series at the\u00a0Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies which\u00a0seeks\u00a0<\/span>to cultivate informed conversations among experts and\u00a0practitioners\u00a0on issues that are currently in the news headlines, but to do so with a focus on intellectual analysis and on longer-range trends. Recent Beyond the Headlines discussions\u00a0have focused on topics including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0the current tension on the Korean peninsula<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
